Haldia buys out L&T stake

Haldia Petrochemicals (HPL) has acquired Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T’s) 51 per cent stake in HPL Cogeneration (HPLCL) at a consideration of Rs 180 crore. A 51:49 joint venture between L&T and HPL, HPLCL runs a 116 MW power station at Haldia. The Rs 5,170-crore petrochem company has acquired L&T’s stake in an all-cash deal. At present, HPLCL supplies power and steam to run HPL’s naphtha cracker plant and its associated units. Post-acquisition, HPLCL becomes a 100 per cent subsidiary of HPL

PS group to set up IT park

City-based realtor PS Group would set up an IT park on public-private partnership basis in Sri Lanka at an investment of USD 80.44 million. Chairman and Managing Director of P S Group Pradip Chopra said that the IT park would be developed on an area of 1.6 million square metres and would provide direct employment to 20,000 and indirect employment to 80,000 people. Nationally, the group flagged off its Chennai operations with a shopping mall and premium residential project next to InfoTech park at Siruseri in Tamil Nadu. Chopra said the group was also setting up similar projects at Coimbatore and Chandigarh.

Metro to be on track soon
The first metro rail corridor project in the city is beginning to move forward with a Chinese company bagging the Rs 604 crore contract to supply 16 trains.

The 11.4-km Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor is set to be operational by 2010-end. Mumbai Metro One, the special purpose vehicle formed to undertake construction, has selected CSR Nanjing Puzhen Rolling Stock Company - a 100-year old subsidiary of the government-owned China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corporation. Officials say the first four-coach train will be rolled out within 18 months and all 16 trains in the next two years. The contract for first metro line was awarded to a consortium lead by Reliance Energy. Mumbai Metro One hopes to finish the project in less than three years.

Patel Engg bags project in the United States

India's leading civil infrastructure construction company Patel Engineering has bagged the $ 280 million Taum Sauck Upper Reservoir Dam reconstruction project, the largest RCC dam in Missouri, USA. This is a negotiated contract between Amren and Ozark Constructors (a 50-50 joint venture between ASI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Patel Engineering, and Fred Weber) The project will be executed by Patel Engineering's wholly-owned subsidiary ASI RCC. The Taum Sauk Plant is owned and operated by Ameren UE, a subsidiary of Amren Corporation, St Louis.

The company has bagged the contract from Volkswagen for the supply of headlamps and rear combination lamps for its upcoming models in India. The orders also include supply of rear combination lamps for the global model being manufactured in Russia. Supplies will be made from the Chakan, Pune plant.

The company has won bid from Naya Raipur Development Authority, Chhattisgarh, for development of theme township with golf course on over 400 acres at Naya Raipur. Construction will start within 1-2 months.

The company has obtained Letter of Award from ONGC, Rajahmundry Asset for deployment of following Compressors for compressing the natural gas at various locations of Rajahmundry Asset in Andhra Pradesh.
