Airports Authority of India (AAI) plans to raise about Rs 3,000 crore in a phased manner in the next two years via issuance of bonds. AAI will raise Rs 600 crore immediately by end-March and another Rs 2,000 crore in the next financial year and the rest will be taken as per requirement.
AAI plans to utilise these funds to take up development work in 16 non-metro airports. To start with, Mangalore, Tiruchi and Vsakhapatnam airports are likely to benefit from these funds.
AAI has got approval for levying of User Development Fee (UDF) at Jaipur airport. It is likely to be Rs 250 for domestic travel and Rs 900 for international travel. Thiruvananthapuram and Ahmedabad airports are under consideration with Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA). Other airports for which AAI is seeking permission include Tiruchirapalli, Visakhapatnam, Mangalore, Udaipur and Amritsar. |
