Monday, August 30, 2010

NTPC is slated to add another 8,140 MW power by 2015 through its proposed power plants in Madhya Pradesh. However, the company is yet to overcome hurdles pertaining to land acquisition and pollution related issues. It has identified a new location in Narsinghpur's four villages in Gadarwara tehsil to set up a 1,320-Mw super critical thermal power project. NTPC has also proposed another thermal plant in Khargone district, which is also under discussions and a similar area of land is required for the plant. While the Barethi project in Bundelkhand will require 4,000 acres of land.

NTPC is also expanding its existing project by adding another 1,500 MW in phased manner. It is in process of adding 1,000 MW in the existing Vindhyachal plant and another 500 Mw will be added later.
