The Maharashtra government has prepared a draft requesting the Centre to amend the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules for Mumbai, as they are affecting major infrastructure projects, like metro rail. Phase-II of the metro rail came under CRZ rules and construction, therefore, was not possible. The state government would request the Centre to permit the construction of vital public projects in CRZ areas.
