Aditya Birla Group (ABG) plans to complete the Rs 4,500 crore alumina refinery plant coming up at Kashipur in Koraput and expand Hindalco aluminium smelter project at Hirakud in Sambalpur on schedule. In June 2009, Orissa government had recommended the union mining ministry to allot mining lease of Lakharis bauxite deposit in Koraput in favour of Hindalco Industries, part of ABG.
