The Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has signed long-term transmission pacts with 37 private developers, entailing a total generation capacity of over 42,000 MW. The proposals would envisage implementation of seven high-capacity transmission corridors from a bevy of private projects coming up in the eastern and southern states. The projects entail investments of about Rs 48,000 crore and are aimed at facilitating electricity to the northern and western regions of India.
