| | A coal gasification project is coming up Talchar in Orissa, with the involvement of Coal India (CIL), Gas Authority of India and Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers. Coal India Chairman Partha S Bhattacharya says the project is being set up at a defunct RCF plant, and Mahanadi Coalfields would be supplying five MN tonnes of coal for it. CIL had earlier contemplated underground coal gasification, but abandoned the idea for fear of water contamination.
