7,500 housing units to be handed over to JNNURM beneficiaries in Nashik before Mar 31, 2017

Revenue commissioner Eknath Davle has recently ordered the Nashik city municipal commissioner Abhishek Krishna to hand over 7,500 housing units to the beneficiaries under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) before March 31, 2017, as per reports.

To make the city slum free, the affordable housing scheme under the central government is being implemented. Under this scheme, the funding by the central government is 30 per cent, state government 20 per cent and municipal corporation 30 per cent. While it was initially implemented for 16,000 housing units, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) gradually brought it down to 7,500 due to lack of response.

Out of the 7,500 houses, review of 6,760 houses were taken, and out of these 5,160 houses are ready for possession. The housing units of Panchavati, Chunchale, Wadala and Satpur will be handed over to the beneficiaries by October and those in CIDCO and Nashik West by November, as reported.
