World’s second tallest statue at Hyderabad at Rs 1,000 crore

Hyderabad will soon site the world’s second tallest statue, the first one being the Buddha statue in Thailand. The saint Ramanuja’s panchaloha statue at Hyderabad will be built with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore.

The 216-ft statue in a seated posture is almost seeing completion of the financial closure for Rs 250 crore to be spent in the first phase. Further, the shipment of the giant statue of 700 tonne has already commenced in parts from China and the construction of the platform is under way, according to reports.

China-based Aerosun Corporation has been given the contract of the statue and a team of 60 professionals will commence assembling it at project site in Munchintal village near Shamshabad international airport. Apart from the statue, the project also includes 108 Vaishnava divya kshetras in the 34-acre around the statue. The project is on the look to enlist best known sculptors from across the country. A Chinese colour fountain with a revolving mini statute of Ramanujacharya, a golden deity of him weighting 120 kg to symbolise 120 years of his life and achievements are other specialites in the project, which is expected to open to public by November 2017.
