Two mega hydropower plants in Himachal shut
Due to a rise in the level of the silt content in the Satluj River, India’s two mega hydropower plants- 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri plant and 412 MW Rampur Hydro Electric Project- in Himachal Pradesh were shut down temporarily. The plants were shut down as the silt could have damaged the turbines. This was the season’s first closure of both the plants.
