Atlas Copco to further strengthen presence in India

Atlas Copco, global leaders in compressors, vacuum solutions, generators, pumps, power tools and assembly systems, is looking forward to strengthen its Make in India initiatives. The company with its facilities in Pune, Nashik and Hyderabad, has been manufacturing in India for the past almost 60 years.

The Executive Committee of Atlas Copco (ECM) met recently in India as part of its global visit. The meetings in India reiterate the collaborative steps taken by the company in sync with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. Addressing a meeting at the Chakan (Pune) facility, Mats Rahmström, President and CEO, Atlas Copco Group, said, “India is an important market and it is no longer a low-cost market for us.” According to him, India is a market where a lot of engineers and talent pool are available and this is a positive for the company to expand business in India. In 2002, Atlas Copco established an R&D centre — Global Engineering Center India Airpower (GECIA) — in Pune, which today employs over 650 highly-trained engineers with a broad range of capabilities in software tools, competency training and extensive product knowledge
