362-km railway line to improve connectivity

A 362-km railway line worth Rs 85.74 bn is being planned for west-central India to connect JNPT with Manmad in Maharashtra, and Indore.

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between JNPT, the Ministry of Shipping, the Ministry of Railways, and the Governments of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. A JV company will be formed to execute the project.

To be led by the port trust with a 55 per cent stake, both the state governments will have a 15 per cent share each in the JV.
