PCMC agrees to compensate land owners

It is learnt that the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) addressed the land acquisition problem that delayed water supply project for the last 10 years.

The civic body agreed to compensate the land owners as per the law. Following this, the corporation started the digging work and hopes to complete the pipeline work by March this year.

The civic body laid water pipes from Sector 23 in Nigdi to the sump in Krishnanagar and further till Bhosari more than a decade back.

However, the work in Triveninagar was pending for the last three to four years due to difficulties in acquiring land. The corporation wants the pipeline to pass through the Spine Road. There was a need to dig up to six meter of land on a 300-meter stretch.

The areas of Nehrunagar, Ajmera complex, Sant Tukaramnagar and Kasarwadi will get additional water once the work is complete. Akurdi, Chinchwad station and Empire Estate in Chinchwad, besides the developing areas of Bhosari, Moshi, Charholi and Dudulgaon will also benefit.
