RailTel Corporation wins project worth Rs 400-crore

RailTel Corporation of India has reported to win two projects worth Rs 400 crore for laying optical fibre cable network in North East part of the country.

The project is proposed to be completed in two phases. In the first phase, the cable network is to be laid in Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura while in the second phase the cable network is to be rolled out in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland. BSNL, which lost to RailTel in the bidding had quoted Rs 170 crore and Rs 315 crore for the phases, respectively against RailTel’s Rs 89.50 crore and 298.50 crore.

This is, so far, RailTel’s major project, which is financed by the Universal Services Obligation Fund.
