TN sees Rs 20,000 cr investment in six months

Tamil Nadu expects Rs 20,000 crore investment in next six months

Tamil Nadu is expecting an investment of about 20,000 as 15 new projects are likely to be established in the state in the next 6 months. One such major projects includes float glass manufacturing unit by a Dubai-based industrial group – Harsha at in investment value of Rs 2,100 crore. The work for the same is likely to be started in the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) Industrial estate at Thervoy Kandigai in Tiruvallur district this year. The project would employ around 800 people.

The group had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government in 2008, which has again been revised 2009.

According to a government official, most of the new projects will be in manufacturing sector. So far, more than 2900 companies have set several manufacturing plants in the state, which also includes 34 projects by 500 fortune companies.
