Bharat Petroleum to raise capacity of newly commissioned Bina refinery to 9 mt

Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL), one of the leading public sector energy companies, has announced to raise the capacity of its newly commissioned Refinery at Bina in Madhya Pradesh to 9 million tonne. The 11,397-crore joint venture at Bina between BPCL and Oman Oil Co (OOC) with a production capacity of six million tonne a year (120,000 barrels per day) has been commissioned in January 2011, and will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on May 20.

BPCL Chairman and Managing Director RK Singh said that for the first phase of the expansion plan, which will be completed in three years, will need an investment of about Rs 2,000 crore for establishing necessary infrastructure. In the second phase, corporation is eying at increasing the production capacity to 15 million tonne.

The Managing Director of Bharat Oman Refineries Limited (BORL) UN Joshi also raveled companies plan to come up with an initial public offering (IPO).
