Gujarat says it leads in completion of JnNURM projects

The urban development ministry of the Gujarat government feels that the state is leading in terms of completion of projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM).

In terms of utilisation of funds, the state may be second in the country, a top official in the ministry is quoted as saying in a media.

The official denied reports that the state has completed only 42 of the 71 JnNURM projects. He said the state completed 50 projects. Maharashtra has completed just 20 of its 81 projects. Maharashtra has used 91 per cent of its allotted funds, followed by Gujarat, with 82 per cent, the official is quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) expects to receive its fair share of funds from the central government for the JNNURM projects. Under JnNURM, 35 per cent of funds come from the centre, 15 per cent from the state government, and about 50 per cent from the urban development authority.
