By Raja Iyer

Karnataka Municipal Reforms Project received financial assistance from the International Bank for Reconstruction & Development (IBRD) in order to meet the cost of implementing key projects related to civic amenities in urban areas of the state. IBRD has mandated that the central government must undertake national competitive bidding for choosing contractors to execute all civic projects funded by the multilateral financial body.

Under this project, the central government plans to engage a contractor who can provide rehabilitation, operation and management service for uninterrupted water supply in Nanjungud town. The project comprises survey, design, hydraulic modeling, estimation, procurement and supervision of works and operation and management for a period of five years.

The centre also wants to rope in a contractor for rehabilitation, operation, and management of uninterrupted water supply in Magadi town of Karnataka.
