J&K govt plans to use open spaces

Jammu and Kashmir government plans to use open spaces and develop recreational parks for beautification of Jammu and build walkways for facilitating people.

This information was given by the state Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla.

Bhalla said the government was committed to develop healthy environment in urban areas by developing more greener patches in the open spaces with the facilities like seating, drinking water, illumination, walkway, landscaping and fencing.

He said this after dedicating recreational park developed at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore by Floriculture Department at Narwal Pine. The has the facilities of walkways, seating, landscaping, illumination, drinking water and other required facilities.

A Multipurpose Community Hall was also inaugurated at Jeevan Nagar by the minister. The hall was built at a cost of Rs 17 lakh and it has all facilities like kitchen and drinking water facilities.

The minister said government allotted Rs 15 lakh for development of local park at Greater Jammu in Sector-10 and has kept Rs 15 lakh for constructing a bathing ghat for ladies and Rs 30 lakh has been kept for construction of lanes and drains in the locality.

He said that works would be started soon after completing tendering formalities. For construction of Multipurpose Community Hall in Greater Jammu, Bhalla called upon the people to identify the land for this purpose.
