Civic body to revisit DPRs for projects

Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) would revisit the detailed project reports (DPR) for various urban infrastructure projects in the town and seek clearance for the same from relevant authorities.

It is learnt that these DPRs, which were prepared some years ago, must be revised as the costs of projects have risen.

Under JNNURM, the civic body plans to undertake the revival of the St Inez Creek that is presently in a pathetic condition, set up a modern garbage treatment plant at Baiguinim, heritage conservation at Panaji and rehabilitation of the slum inhabitants from Cambarabhat, among others.

The corporation plans to send the revised DPRs to the state-level steering committee for approval so that it gets funds under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

The civic body would get the DPRs revised from consultants and submit the same to the steering committee when it meets next month. Once approved, the proposals will be forwarded to Delhi from where the funds will be sanctioned and released to the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA). The funds need to be sanctioned before March 2014, or they will lapse.

The CCP recently received a sanction for funds of Rs 19.79 crore for the e-governance project from the central government through JNNURM.
