Water project in advanced stage of completion

The union government-sponsored water supply project in Kohima, Nagaland, is in the advanced stage and it may be completed in all respects before March 2014 provided funds are made available.

The project, which received Rs 46.26 crore funding from the union urban development ministry, will supply additional water to the town in the driest season.

The state government would be able to supply in all 5.30 million litre of drinking water to the town during the driest season as against the present requirement of 10 million litre per day.

Earlier in the day, the minister also inspected the works at the new PHED Directorate Office site located near Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima, which is also on the verge of completion.

The state minister for PHED Noke Wangnao along with the Chief Engineer Er Kevisekho Kruse, other officers of the Department and the concerned contractors conducted a field visit to the various project sites including the site of the above project recently.
