West Bengal takes up highway repair work

West Bengal Public Works Department's NH wing has stepped up repair work on a number of national highway stretches across the state. They are putting to use funds from both the Union ministry of road, transport and highways and the state budget.

The State PWD Minister Sudarshan Ghosh Dastidar said that the government is repairing and strengthening some highway stretches in the state. Under the State budget, the authorities are already working on repair work on some damage stretches. While repair work on the Onda Bishnupur Road in Bankura - that falls under NH-60 - is almost complete, damaged stretches between Dubrajpur and Bakreswar and Mallarpur and Naihati in Birbhum on NH-60 extension are being mended and work is likely to be over by May 31.

He added that repair work of the damaged stretches between Dubrajpur to Bakreswar and Mallarpur to Naihati in Birbhum on the NH-60 extension on the stretches from 317 kilometer and to 330 kilometer and 374 kilometer to 401 kilometer is going on and is expected to be completed by May 31.
