Gujarat okays 8 town town planning schemes for Surat

For speedy development of Surat's suburbs, drafts of eight town planning (TP) schemes of both Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) and Surat Urban Development Authority (SUDA) have been approved by the Gujarat government. The approved schemes include Abhwa, Talangpore-Umber, Pali-Sachin-Kande, Vanakala-Okha-Vihen, Navagam, Kholwad-Bhada and Bhanodra.

It is only after the approval that the civic bodies can take possession of land for construction of roads in the areas marked for development.

Now SMC and SUDA will be able to develop basic amenities like roads, streetlights, drainage, sewerage and water network. SMC has 128 TP schemes while SUDA has 20 schemes. The civic bodies have determined to basic amenities first to develop the marked areas. Out of these 26 of the SMC schemes have been finally approved, 32 have received preliminary approval and 60 drafts have been approved. In case of SUDA, out of 20 schemes the drafts of nine have been approved.
