Uttar Pradesh govt to upgrade civic infrastructure

In order to develop infrastructural facilities at the local bodies' level, Uttar Pradesh government gave financial approval for its NayaSaweraNagarVikasYojana'.

The state government proposed to spend Rs 900 crore towards the scheme in 2013-14 and this is Rs 659 crore more than the amount spent in 2012-13.

Initially, the state government chose Rampur local body to provide funding under the scheme.

As the first instalment, the state government allotted around Rs 82 lakh for construction of 104-odd shops near old tehsil bhawan in Rampur. In all, the department of urban development has sanctioned around Rs 12 crore for the project in the first phase.

In doing so, the department has laid down strict conditions for utilisation of funds meant to be used in the scheme.

According to the conditions laid by the state government for implementing the scheme, the funds will be provided as interest-free loan. The funds will be allotted in instalments on a yearly basis to be utilised accordingly.

Likewise, work on the project will be initiated only after technical approval from the designated authority.
