Bihar increases its contingency fund to Rs 1,800 cr

To take up relief and rehabilitation work in the event of flood and drought situation in Bihar, the State government has increased the Bihar Contingency Fund (BCF) to Rs 1,800 crore from the existing Rs 350 crore.

The state secretary of cabinet secretariat department Brajesh Mehrotra said that the huge increase in the BCF has been made mainly for carrying out relief and rehabilitation work in view of the flood and drought situation in the state.

He said the government has approved a proposal of the disaster management department to Rs 40 crore from the BCF in view of the floods in the state.

The cabinet also approved Rs 429.57 crore for constructing police station buildings, barracks and residential buildings for policemen in the state's various parts. These buildings would be built by the Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation.
