Nashik-Trimbak road expansion: Trees transplanted

Before the expansion of 22.5-km stretch on Nashik-Trimbak Road, the Maharashtra Public Public Works Department (PWD) on November 26 transplanted the last of the eight trees of the 88 shortlisted for transplantation on the road. For the four-laning of the road, altogether 1,300 trees were cut down. Three joint surveys were conducted by PWD officials and city-based tree activists along with experts, from July 20 to mid August to save as many trees as possible before the road construction began. In various sections of the Nashik-Trimbak Road the transplantation was carried out. The first patch of trees was transplanted from Ganpatwadi to Brahma Valley, the second patch from Brahma Valley to Talegaon Phata and the third patch from Talegaon Phata to the municipal corporation limit.
