Cement prices up by Rs 25/bag in parts of India

In India's western & central regions, cement prices have recovered by Rs 15-25 per bag, the price remained flat in Northern & Eastern regions. In the southern states, only Karnataka saw price uptick of Rs 20 per bag while cement prices declined in AP (down Rs 7-10 per bag), Tamil Nadu (down Rs 10 per bag) and flat in Kerala. North & Eastern region demand has not seen meaningful pick-up while the central market is on an uptrend, say media reports. Gujarat has witnessed signs of demand recovery during 2nd half of November which supported the nominal price hikes of Rs 30-35 per bag (effective price hike Rs 20-25 per bag). After a span of 10 months, demand improvement is seen. Maharashtra market demand has recovered marginally which along-with supply discipline has helped price hike of Rs 20 per bag in the state. Demand uptick in Karnataka has helped manufacturers raise cement prices in the state by Rs 20 per bag after a span of flat prices for last 6-7 months.
