PWD, KWA face public wrath for negligence

The Kerala Public Works Department (PWD) and and Kerala Water Authority (KWA) have been severely criticised by the Kozhikode Corporation Council for the negligence in restoring the dug-up portion of the Medical College-Thondayad Road at the Thondayad Junction. The dug-up road had resulted in the death of a 36-year-old woman last week. The council meeting on December 25 unanimously passed a resolution urging the authorities concerned to take steps to avoid similar incidents in the future. The council also urged the State government to provide compensation to the victim's family. The road was renovated by PWD which was dug up by the KWA to lay the pipeline for treating the waste water from the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital to the Canoli canal. The accident was occurred due to negligence from the part of the PWD and KWA in carrying out restoration works soon after the completion of the pipe laying works.
