Work stopped on Vilholi underpass in Nashik

Following objections raised by a section of village residents, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has stopped work on the construction of the underpass at Vilholi in Nashik on the Mumbai-Agra highway for almost a week now. The work of service roads at Vilholi, which was underway, has also been stalled. NHAI said that some Vilholi residents were of the view that the underpass be constructed 200 metere towards the north from its current, scheduled location. PNG Tollways, who have the contract of widening the highway from Pimpalgaon to Gonde, had begun the work of shifting electrical poles and constructing service roads. Once the work of the service road was completed, the construction for the underpass could be taken up by redirecting traffic on the highway to the service roads.
