Centre okays road projects worth Rs 1,900 cr

Road projects worth Ra 1,900 crore in Gujarat and Bihar have been cleared by the Union government. The road projects would be soon be out on auction for road developers. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs ( CCEA) approved two the two road projects. For civil construction and supervision works of the two road projects, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide loan assistance. The Gujarat project is six-laning of Vadodra-Surat section of NH-8 including construction of a new four-lane bridge across the Narmada river and two eight-lane flyovers in Gujarat, will be built with investment of Rs 503 crore. This includes the cost of land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation and other pre-construction activities. The project falls in Bharuch district. Once completed the project will reduce the time and cost of travel, particularly heavy traffic, plying on Vadodra-Surat section. In Bihar, the clear road project is crucial part of the Budhha circuit. The widening of 93 km long Gaya-Hisua-Rajgir-Nalanda-Biharsharif section on NH-82 in Bihar will cost about Rs 1,409 crore. The project will be completed within three years of signing of the contract agreement. The road project connects Nalanda, which is mostly visited by the tourists who go to Bodh Gaya. The road will connect Rajgir, where Vishwa Shanti Stupa or Japanese Pagoda is a major tourist attraction.
