Rs 40,000 cr investment likely to build roads in Assam

The state of Assam is likely to see large scale investment in the road sector. To build and upgrade integrated road network including construction of National and state highways providing connectivity to different geographies. Around Rs 40,000 crore is likely to be invested in the road sector programme. The state will have around 6,000 km of state highways and over 3,000 km of NH network in the next 3 to 5 years period. In the next one year, the newly declared NH-127(B) will be constructed between Srirampur on NH-31(C) and Phulbari via Dhubri, including construction of a bridge over Brahmaputra. This project also includes construction of a bridge over Brahmaputra. An alternate National Highways (NH) is being proposed between Guwahati and Silchar in Barak valley to reduce travel time.
