British era suspension bridge reconstructed for the third time

The suspension bridge over River Tenang was inaugurated on 29th January, 2014. This bridge connects Leangha and Shiyong villages constructed under DUDA, Social Infrastructure Development Fund (SIDF) 2010-11.Social and Infrastructure Development Fund (SIDF) was created by Government of India with the intention to meet the urgent needs of North Eastern Region. The British had built the original bridge in 1929, second time this was built in 1963. The bridge proposal was submitted to the Government in 2009. The road via this bridge was the only route to Assam for the entire district of Mon in the pass.
