Upgradation of roads in Karnataka

Karnataka Public Works Minister H C Mahadevappa has said that the Centre has agreed to upgrade 116-km stretch between Theerthahalli and Malpe road in Udupi District into a national highway. The width of the existing road will be widened to 10 metre from the current 5.5 metre. The minister also spoke about other road projects in the state of Karnataka. He added, that around 100-km stretch between Shimoga and Chitradurga on NH-13 will be upgraded into two-lane at a cost of Rs 324 crore. The 200-km stretch between Shimoga and Tumkur on NH-206 is likely to be converted into four-lane at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore. These projects will be taken up on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis.
