Centre and Kerala Govt to share Kollam, Alappuzha bypass project equally

The Kerala Government has decided to take up widening of Kollam and Alappuzha NH bypasses. The ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) has objected to the state government's decision to award this tender to companies that have quoted excess tender. The Rs 267.16-crore Kollam bypass project covering 13-km starts at Kavanad and ends at Mevaram. The project include three bridges and one underpass. The Rs 255.75-crore Alappuzha bypass projects covering 6.80-km starts at Kommady and ends at Kalarkode. The project includes two rail overbridges and an elevated stretch on the beach portion. These projects are the first ones in which the Centre and the state goverrnment will share the cost equally. As of now, the NH wing of the state public works department has decided to re-tender the project.
