KRDC not doing enough to complete airport exit road construction in time

Karnataka Road Development Corporation (KRDC) is executing the widening of the exit road of the Mangalore International Airport (MIA). The work is moving at a snail pace. It's been 15 months since the exit road was closed for widening. So far only 30 per cent of the work is completed as on date. The entry road to the airport was constructed by KUIDFC three years ago, the exit road was merely 7.5 metre in width. KRDC was entrusted the task of constructing a three lane road with 11 metre width at a cost of Rs 10.30 crore in February 2013. The exit road length is 1.152 km. The acquisition of a building on the exit road is said to be cause for delay as the full compensation is not yet paid by the Government. KRDCL engineer has said that the earth work has been completed and the construction of the retaining wall is on.
