CDA plans to reconstruct commercial hub using land pooling scheme

The Calicut Development Authority (CDA) in the state of Kerala has mooted land pooling scheme. The city is likely to see massive infrastructure overhaul and development under the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS). LPS envisages a mechanism wherein the land considering a single plot will be pooled without compulsorily acquiring it. Under this scheme, the CDA and the individual land owners enters into an agreement. The pooled land will be redistributed after the proper planning process. CDA aims to reconstruct Valiyangadi which is one of the oldest commercial hubs in Calicut. This project aims at pooling land to set up shopping malls, take up residential and commercial construction and build roads providing accessibility to all the plots on the identified areas. The project is estimated to cost Rs 750 crore.
