HP seeks French expertise to introduce tram service between Shimla-Dharamshala

The Government of Himachal Pradesh has sought support from France to set up smart cities and in critical areas like managing solid waste and water resources. The French embassy in India has already agreed to fund the feasibility study for introducing integrated transport system in urban pockets of the state. French team is visiting the state on 15th and 16th October. One of the important project to be discussed is the light rail transit system between Shimla and Dharamshala. The civic body of Shimla has proposed to introduce tram services that would cost around Rs 75 crore per km. The completion is estimated in three years once the project takes off.
