India to build 1800-km highway along the Chinese border

India plans to embark on an ambitious road project and aims to build 1800 km highway along the McMahon Line in Arunachal Pradesh. The proposed highway will pass through Tawang, East Kameng, West Siang, Upper Siang, Dibang Valley, Desali, Upper Subansiri, Chaglagam, Kibito, Dong, Hawai and Vijaynagar in bordering areas of Arunachal Pradesh. The highway project will be monitored by the Home ministry. Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) will prepare a detailed project report. The environmental clearance for border area projects are already relaxed by the Government. The project is estimated to cost Rs 40,000 crore.
