Rajasthan gets $500-million loan approval from ADB

The state of Rajasthan got approval on two loans amounting to $500-million loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) October 25, 2014 to upgrade water and sewerage facilities and manage essential urban services. The state government plans to use $250-million loan for the creation of a new State body to oversee urban services development and an independent utility to oversee water and wastewater operations in Jaipur. Another $250-million project loan will be used to support water system improvements in Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, Pali,Tonk and Sri Ganganagar.In addition, the project envisages upgradation of sewer pipelines and treatment plants in the five cities along with Bhilwara. The project completion is targeted by 2019.
