Bold Winner

Subhash Chandra led Essel Group's arm- Essel Infraprojects (EIL) - has bagged India's first railway project on annuity mode. The company has won the Rs 17.06-billion project on the Eastern Freight Corridor for connecting Howrah and Chennai main line. Notably, EIL even edged past Indian Railways' infrastructure arm IRCON International for emerging as the winner. The annuity mode project involves the construction of bridges, rail-over bridge, rail-under-bridge, foot-over-bridge, platform shelters, among others. The project is seen as a step to link the country's most important region under the Eastern Freight Corridor. The company, led by Chandra, is keen reportedly on entering the high-speed transport network including airports, metros and expressways. EIL has gradually made its way into projects under the PPP mode and has succeeded in participating in the railway station redevelopment projects, and now, winning the first PPP annuity rail line project in India - a proud moment for Chandra indeed!
