Nuclear energy can meet the gap in power sector, says scientist

India´s energy requirement is soaring, expecting to touch 3,128 terawatt hours per year with a minimum per capita requirement of 1,840 Kwh a year. The country is expected to be the world´s largest oil importer by 2020, with demands projected to go up to 8,000 to 9,000 TWh per year. Compared to the present generation of 1,031 TWA, harnessing nuclear energy seems like the best aid. India has large reserves of thorium and uranium, which can be tapped to meet growing demands.
