To enhance the productivity of urban cities and sustain 8-9% economic growth, India will need to add 400km of new subway tracks. For the next ten years, the government is investing about US$ 45B on constructing a strong transport infrastructure in its million-plus cities. Soon, metros will be running in 8 more cities, aside from those currently running and under construction: Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
