Reynaers Aluminium

Reynaers Aluminium, a leading European provider of innovative and sustainable architectural aluminium solutions, is expanding its worldwide distribution centre in Duffel, Belgium, to cope with rapid growth. As a continuation of the company's environment-friendly policies, Reynaers is installing solar panels on the roof of its new warehouse. The planned annual output of 500,000 kWh makes it the largest photovoltaic roof installation in Belgium today. Reynaers is assuming its responsibilities for realising the Kyoto targets.

Environmentally-aware company policy
The decision to invest in a solar power station fits into the business vision of an environmentally aware and socially responsible company policy. Sustainable development is an important innovation theme for Reynaers Aluminium.
Recent ecological and energy-efficient innovations comprise: aluminium profiles with high thermal insulation values, external sunscreening that enables more energy-efficient management of buildings and double-façade solutions.
Reynaers products include a wide variety of window and door systems, curtain walling, sliding systems, sunscreening, conservatories, skylights, screens and systems to incorporate blinds and ventilation grids. Established in 1965 and headquartered in Duffel (Belgium), the company has offices in 27 countries across the world.

Solar energy power station
The photovoltaic installation at the Duffel warehouse will consist of 3,072 solar modules that will cover an area of 16,000 sq m. The system will generate 500,000 kWh of green electricity per year. This corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of 166 households. A traditional thermal power station of the same capacity would emit 280 tonne of carbon dioxide per year.
The solar modules will produce enough electricity to cover the entire energy needs of the new warehouse. Electricity generated during the weekend will be fed into the municipal electricity grid. The payback period for the project, to be operational from December 2007, is calculated to be nine years.

DB Power Electronics (P) Ltd
Pradeep Pimpley, Vice-President

'Harmonic pollution' is a growing concern across the high power consumers like data centers, process and automation industry, hospitals, commercial buildings, retail malls etc. These consumers have high usage of industrial and commercial applications like computers, UPS, AC/DC drives, energy-saving lamps, rectifiers, high-density DC power supplies, solid state lighting ballasts, SMPS etc. These devices draw non-linear type of current from the electrical supply, which leads to 'harmonic pollution.'
This harmonic pollution degrades the power quality and is a problem for the user as well as the supply authority. The high harmonic distortion results in reduction of productivity, reduces life of components and can damage equipment. It also affects the life and performance of DG sets and transformers and cause great drain on the power supply. Bad effects of harmonic pollution are often seen in terms of overloading of neutrals and transformers creating heating losses, over-stressing of power factor capacitors, nuisance tripping of circuit breakers, voltage distortion, etc.
Coming to the rescue of all harmonics-affected users is DB Power Electronics (P) Ltd, a three-decade-old premier power electronics company. DB Power Electronics has launched a state-of-the-art designed digital active power conditioner, named SWAN.
SWAN dynamically eliminates harmonics from the utility power source and improves the power factor nearer unity. SWAN guarantees harmonic reduction to less than 3 to 5 per cent, bringing it to initial level of harmonic currents.
It is based on the synchronous rotating reference frame principle and 32-bit DSP controller, with full digital control, giving stable, easy-to-upgrade, flexible performance which has no variation or degradation over longer period of operational life. It can be installed along with UPS, AC drives, at the source, at large computer facilities or near main input.
Some of the impressive features of SWAN include synchronous rotating reference frame principle, 32-bit, DSP control, employs high speed IGBTs in power circuit, closed loop active filter with source current sensing and high attenuation up to 96 per cent of individual harmonics.
With Swan, reliability of the installation increases greatly, providing better control of power flow in the electrical transmission, thereby boosting profits of both the electrical supply authority and the end-user.

CADWEB Ltd
Hardik Mehta, Sales & Marketing Head (India)

Cadweb is a world leader in construction project extranet technology - for all parties involved in the architecture, engineering and construction industry as well as for all stages of a project's lifecycle. The UK-based company has been working to improve the process of information exchange, retrieval and storage on construction projects since 1995.
In India, Cadweb has been appointed for the multi-million dollar Kensville Golf Township project promoted by non-resident Indians. Coming up near Ahmedabad on 750 acre of lush green landscape, its 18-hole course is of Professional Golfers Association of America international championship standards. It already has a playable nine-hole golf course on national tournament circuit, and is scheduled to have the remaining nine-hole playable by October. Around 50,000 trees have already been planted; another 40,000 will soon be planted in and around the site. Kensville, the first signed-up Vibrant Gujarat project, will have over 700 designer homes on plots ranging from 800 to 2,500 sq yard. Following its success on Kensville Golf Township, Cadweb.net has been appointed for two projects of the Savvy Group, one of Gujarat's leading developers. These are Shapath V (the first green skyscraper proposed in the state) and Centre One in Ahmedabad. Cadweb.net, within a very short time, has been able to make considerable progress in India.
Due to its robust architecture and legal admissibility worldwide, with ISO: 27001 accreditation (international standard for information security), Cadweb is trusted and adopted by blue-chip companies like P&O Estates, Prudential Property Invest-ment Management (PruPIM) and Morley Fund Management (a subsidiary of Aviva Plc), the UK Ministry of Defence, the United States Air Force in Europe (USAFE), Department of Defence (USA), Tesco for their super-markets and township developments, British Land (UK), Motorola, Foster & Partners and HOK, among others.

Gandhi Entrance Automation
Samir Gandhi, Director

The OMG Ergos forklift embodies state-of-the-art technology, offering excellent performance under all working conditions. Each component is properly tested and subjected to the strictest trials to achieve a superb product. The driving units, electronic controls and lift masts conform to the highest standards. The 'family feeling' which permeates the whole of the Ergo range is the result of thorough design; indeed, the ergonomics of these trucks is a feature of considerable commercial value.
Chassis: The monobloc construction ensures maximum stability and superior strength in all traction and stacking situations, maintaining high residual capacities even at maximum height.
Operator comfort: Detailed analysis of the operator's work and posture has provided good knowledge of the relationship between person, machine and environment, which has been integrated into the OMG Ergos design. As a result, the machine itself integrates fully into a variety of production situations ensuring precision, efficiency, and high productivity.
Drive: The separate excitation motors are capable of meeting the most demanding performance requirements, and deliver the necessary power under all load conditions as the translation speed depends exactly on the accelerator position.
Hydraulic functions: Powerful and noiseless lift motor offering the highest performance. All hydraulic functions are microprocessor-controlled and ensure precise and safe load handling.
Masts: OMG masts are constructed from external wrap-around mast section to ensure torsional and bending rigidity, and have wide visibility.
The entire Ergos range is equipped with high-frequency electronic devices. Independent braking systems and hydraulically-operated power steering for safe and precise steering responsive and ensures truck control at all times. Also available are several optional features.
