ACI launches programme for technicians
The India Chapter of American Concrete Institute (ACI) has launched ACI International Certification Progra-mme for Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade-I. Certification provides the examinees with international recognition by an independent group of acknowledged experts.

The technicians getting ACI Certification as a Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade-I will aid in ensuring quality control of the concrete used in construction projects. Apart from such validation of the quality of concrete used, all those construction companies who undertake construction work in Gulf countries and other places where ACI certification is mandatory.

All instructional materials, examination papers, grading the examination, maintenance of certification records and issuance of certification to successful candidates are administered by ACI USA. The ACI certification course is based on ASTM standards. The Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade-I covers seven ASTM standards. ASTM standards compare well with BIS since the topic of certification deals with concrete as material. While conducting the ACI certification course in India, comparison with BIS will also be made.

Prestige Group wins six awards from CNBC
Bangaluru-based Prestige Group won accolades in six competitive categories at the CNBC Asia Pacific Property Awards 2008. The winning projects include Best Marina Development - Prestige Neptune's Courtyard in Kochi; Best Property Marketing - Prestige Southridge; Best Interior Design - Prestige Southridge; Best High-rise Development - Prestige Exotica; Best Architecture (Multiple Units) - Prestige Acropolis; and Best Redevelopment - Prestige Elgin. The awards were presented at the Marina Mandarin in Singapore. RAK Ceramics institutes Design Award RAK Ceramics, headquartered at Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, has instituted the Rak Ceramics Design Award 2008. Dinesh Bandiwadekar, Senior Manager (Marketing) said, “As the numero uno in the Ceramic Tiles & sanitaryware business, RAK Ceramics is proud to institute The RAK Ceramics Design Award 2008 for honouring the best design concept in ceramic or porcelain tiles and its creators from budding student designers . The competition is open only to bonafide students of Art, Architecture, Design and Ceramics related courses. We look forward to the entries from students, and hope it will motivate them for producing outstanding designs.”

Having a worldwide sales of over $ 600 mn, RAK Ceramics was adjudged as the Company of the Year in 2004 by the Arabian Business Awards; and received the MRM Business Award for Manufacturing instituted by Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry in 2005 - the topmost manufacturing award of the UAE.

The Ras Al Khaimah plants alone produce around 200,000 sq mt of tiles per day and over 7,000 pieces of sanitaryware per day. The global production of tiles is over 300,000 sq mt and 10,000 pcs of sanitaryware per day from the various plants around the world. The company exports to more than 135 countries across five continents.

Indo-Japan dialogue centres on two projects
The second India-Japan Strategic Dialogue on Economic Issues was held in Tokyo recently. The dialogue focused on Japanese support for two flagship infrastructure projects - Delhi-Mumbai Dedicated Freight Corridor and Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. The Indian delegation was led by Dr D Subbarao, Finance Secretary, the Japanese side was led by M Kohno, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Ansal API revenues up by 12%
Ansal API recorded consolidated revenues of Rs 206.13 crore, an increase of 12 per cent from Rs 184.05 crore in corresponding quarter of 2007-08.

Maytas Infra achieves turnover of Rs 384 crore
Maytas Infra Ltd achieved a turnover of Rs 384 crore with an EBIDTA of Rs 69 crore and a post tax profit (PAT) of Rs 20 crore. Its order book as on July 30, 2008 stood at Rs 11,474 crore.

Parsvnath net sales at Rs 372 crore
Parsvnath Developers Ltd (PDL) reported net sales of Rs 372 crore, registered a growth of 5 per cent. Net profit in Q1 FY09 stood at Rs 71 crore.

Era Infra Engineering revenue up 48%
Era Infra Engineering Ltd reported revenue of Rs 403.20 crore, registering an increase of 48 per cent. EBIDTA for the quarter stood at Rs 89.39 crore and net profit at Rs 28.40 crore.

Sobha's profit zooms by 24%
Sobha Developers Ltd recorded a net profit at Rs 50.5 crore, registering 24 per cent growth. Its turnover also marked a 30 per cent increase to Rs 348.8 crore.

Simplex Infrastructures PAT up 95 per cent
Simplex Infrastructures Ltd posted a 71 per cent growth in turnover to Rs 1,017 crore, 81 per cent jump in EBITDA to Rs 112 crore, 118 per cent spurt in PBT, and 95 per cent increase in PAT to Rs 38.3 crore.

Omaxe net profit at Rs 56.67 crore
Omaxe Ltd has recorded an increase in consolidated revenues by 3.48 per cent at Rs 354.38 crore. EBITDA stood at Rs 98.93 crore and net profit at Rs 56.67 crore.

HCC turnover up 22.5%
HCC's turnover grew by 22.5 per cent, operating margin (EBDITA) by 16 per cent to Rs 91 crore. Profit after tax is at Rs 31 crore and profit before tax stood at Rs 39 crore.

L&T PAT grows by 33%
Larsen & Toubro Ltd reported 53 per cent growth in gross sales at Rs 6,993 crore. Profit after tax grew by 33 per cent at Rs 502 crore. The E&C segment's order inflows registered an increase of 28 per cent at Rs 1,0516 crore.
