The Wonder Lift
Gandhi Automations' retractable tail lift comes with several
advantages which includes the tried and tested features of
the company's well proven futura retractable range of lifts
as well as various new additions.
Since 1986, Gandhi Automations Pvt Ltd has held a lead position
in importing, distributing and installing entrance automation
systems and warehouse equipment that are problem free and
easy to operate. High speed industrial doors, sectional overhead
doors, dock levellers and dock shelters, forklifts and warehouse
equipment, cold storage doors, entrance automation systems
and access control, etc are some of the major products of
the company.
Using the tried and tested features of the company’s
well proven futura retractable range of lifts; retractable
tail lift has incorporated the advantage of a flat/horizontal
platform which is suited for roll cage operations, especially
to the typical British food industry operator. The platform
is available with three way stops/leading edges, in column
lift style to the three open sides, and the new fully automatic
mechanically operated foot protector/roll cage stop.
Anteo superb guide rail system eliminates any "racking
or bounce" of the lift frame and platform during deployment
and retraction. Available in futura version, one can choose
to have the facility of tilting the platform at any level,
a must where the operator loads or unloads on gradients.
The guard automatically rises and falls as the tail-lift
is operated. As the platform moves away from body floor level,
cam locks lift the guard thus preventing anyone on the platform
from trapping or crushing feet or toes, at the same time holding
roll cages from preventing falling as the lift descends to
ground level. As the lift is raised back to the floor level,
the guard automatically falls to level with platform and body
floor, allowing smooth transition of roll cages into the vehicle.
The Anteo automatic positioning in and out makes it very
easy to use. The main options of the platform include fixed
internal two button controls with changeover switch, wander
lead with changeover switch, hinged side ramps that are 390
mm, 500 mm or 620 mm deep, safety gate, foot control and tilt
cylinders.

Bent on Progress
Ashapura Volclay Ltd (AVL) sets up its first bentonite base
Geotextile waterproofing membrane plant in the Bhuj district
of Gujarat under technological collaboration with CETCO.
Ashapura Volclay Ltd (AVL) is an Indo-American-Japanese joint
venture between Ashapura Minechem Ltd (AML) and Colloid Environ-mental
Technologies Company (CETCO). This joint venture company is
engaged in activities like manufacture and supply of Bentonite
products to various industries in India including developing
and promoting new applications for the products and also export
of Bentonite products. The unique hydrophilic property of
Bentonite gives it an ‘active’ quality, meaning
it can swell to seal punctures within itself and also small
voids and cracks that develop within concrete over the life-cycle
of the building.
It has set up India's first bentonite base Geotextile waterproofing
membrane plant in the Bhuj district of Gujarat under technological
collaboration with Colloid Environmental Technologies Company
(CETCO). Ashapura Volclay Ltd has several Bentonite based
products. Some of them are as follows
Voltex and Voltex DS
Voltex is a highly effective waterproofing membrane ideal
for below-grade vertical and horizontal foundation surfaces.
Voltex uses the high swelling and self-healing properties
of Sodium Bentonite to form a monolithic, low permeable membrane
to protect the structure from water. Installation is fast
and easy, requiring no primers or protection courses. Voltex
is a composite comprised of two high strength Geotextile and
4.8 kg of Sodium Bentonite per sq m. Voltex DS is comprised
with an integrated HDPE liner on Voltex. Typical applications
include backfilled concrete walls, under structural rafts/slabs,
tunnels and property line construction. Over 200 million sq
m of Voltex has been successfully installed on prestigious
projects worldwide.
Waterstop RX-101
Waterstop-RX 101 is a flexible strip concrete construction
joint waterstop that provides a positive seal by expanding
upon contact with water. Waterstop-RX101 is designed for both
continuous and intermittent hydrostatic conditions and has
been successfully tested to resist 70 m (231 ft) of hydrostatic
pressure. Waterstop-RX 101 contains 75 per cent Sodium Bentonite
content which provides superior expansion to seal cracks and
fill small voids.

Marvellous MAC
MEVA Automatic Climbing (MAC) plays an important role on
one of the biggest residential developments in Perth, Australia.
EVA, one of the world’s leading formwork solution supplier,
is involved in the construction of The Peninsula, Burswood,
one of the largest master planned communities in Western Australia
on 17.1 hectare in the town of Victoria Park. MEVA climbing
systems that work on the basis of hydraulic rams without any
crane support are used to build the high-rise towers.
Two independent systems are running on lift and staircase
shafts. MEVA Automatic Climbing (MAC) provides protection
for workers with full cladding surrounding the external hanging
platforms. Generous working space inside the external platforms
and external trailing platforms allow the contractor to follow
closely with the slab construction.
The MAC system is supported by jacking and shear key beams
inside the shafts. The MAC's hydraulic system has a capacity
of 20 tonne per ram and a non-return ratchet that locks on
each cylinder. Thus, the climbing load is carried by concrete
that has already set and offers the benefits of both safety
and speed.
Inside the MAC system, an intermediary platform gives access
to the 3-way adjustment devices which offer the system extreme
accuracy of +/- 3 mm. It also allows the system to be quickly
plumbed and speeds up the stripping and setting-up process.
The top of the ram rests against the beams of the main grid.MEVA's
high-performance wall formwork system Mammut 350 has been
used in MAC and it offers a concrete load capacity of 100
kN/sq m. During steel fixing the external panels or shutters
are retracted by hand and give access to the core structure.
An intermediary working platform ensures safe fixing. MAC
system also allows the usage of drop panels for confined spaces
where retraction is not practical.
The top platform of the MAC is free from jacking masts and
other mechanical obstacles and thus provides ample working
space for concreters. Open voids are minimised on the top
platform while concreting chutes ensure that concrete is not
spilled inside the system. Placing booms can also be integrated
into the MAC system.
