Maharashtra Government approves railway projects worth Rs 547.77 billion

Taking the city closer to 210 new AC locals, a fast corridor on CSMT-Panvel harbour line and new corridors on Panvel-Virar and Goregaon-Borivali harbour line, the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) 3-A worth Rs 547.77 billion has been approved by the state government.

The project is expected to segregate long distance trains to five to six lines between Borivali and Virar, while a fourth line will reportedly come up on the Kalyan-Asangaon stretch and three to four new lines will be laid on the Kalyan-Badlapur stretch.

The MUTP-3A will reportedly be sent to Niti Aayog for further clearances and finally to the Centre. Apart from this, Rs 59.28 billion are expected to be spent on a new signalling system on Central and Western Railways.
